Brother’s Restaurant … Who is Brother? Owning and operating his own restaurant was a dream of Dwayne Sneed’s for many years. His restaurant career began at the young age of 14 when he was employed as a bus boy, dish washer and anything else that needed to be done. Dwayne continued to work through high school and college working through the ranks to a management position. The two passions in his life are teaching and the restaurant business and throughout his 6 year teaching career, he continued to pursue both, always knowing that he wanted his own restaurant someday. Someday came in the summer of 2004 when an opportunity was presented to open a 70-seat restaurant at an existing location. Sometimes we are on life’s schedule, it is not on ours and Dwayne had to make a choice. He chose to seize the opportunity and with the support of friends and family, especially his sisters, Angie and Christi, he said “Yes” to the opportunity. He was suddenly a restaurateur. The new Brother’s restaurant was a great success and within a year ground was broken for a new 220-seat restaurant. And here we are today. Oh yes, “Who is Brother?” Through their growing-up years, Dwayne’s sister Christi called him Brother and it stuck. When making the choice and decision for the new restaurant’s name it seemed the most natural. Thus “Brother” got his restaurant and a dream was realized. ____________________________________________________________________ Mary Frances Coleman Catering Specialist/Kitchen Manager There is so much to say about Mary Frances Coleman, but this will offer a brief introduction to her. Mary Frances grew up in this community and possesses an extensive knowledge of local tastes and fare. She runs a great kitchen and surprises us often with special culinary creations. Quality in ingredients, taste, and presentation are the keys to her successes in the kitchen. Perfection, or darn near it, is her goal. Mary Frances gives her best to all endeavors. She attended the North Carolina School of Math and Science and the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill graduating with many honors. Although she has long been known for her culinary prowess, she began her adventures in commercial food preparation as a student at Chapel Hill and as is her way, brought her best efforts to the endeavor. Upon graduation, Mary Frances rejected offers with large restaurants in the city choosing to come back to her roots, family is important to her and her to them, just ask her nephew. You may not get a chance to meet Mary Frances when you come to Brother’s but know that she is preparing your meal with the same care and attention she would give to preparing a meal served in her own home. Hey, when you come to Brother’s you are treated like family. Mary Frances is a master of cuisine and so much more. She is “every woman” and “to know her is to love her”. |
